Dear Patients of OBGYN Westside:

We are pleased to announce that effective July 11, 2016 Shannon Leigh Wallace, MD will be joining our practice at OBGYN Westside. Dr. Wallace spent four years of residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center - Dr. Wallace has participated on various review, education and surgical committees.

Prior to performing her residency at Mount Sinai, Dr. Wallace received a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) at the University of Colorado and prior to that, received an A.B. in Chemistry with a Certificate in Neuroscience from Princeton University.

Dr. Wallace has acquired several honors and awards and has held several administrative leadership roles at Mount Sinai. In addition, she is well published and has an interest in female incontinence and pelvic and bladder pain issues - We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Wallace join our staff.

We also regret to inform you that effective September 6, 2016, Dr. Shonda Corbett will be leaving OBGYN Westside to work closer to home. We will miss her and wish her well.

CDC UPDATE for Zika Virus

Based on the updated CDC guidelines from February 5, 2016, we are currently advising our patients to do the following:

  1. Pregnant women should postpone travel to any Zika transmission areas.
  2. Women with a history of travel to any Zika areas in the last 2-12 weeks can consider testing for Zika. If you would like to get tested, please call our office and schedule the test with the front desk. Please note that the test will require Department of Health approval.
  3. Women with a history of travel to any Zika area in pregnancy are advised to have monthly ultrasounds to screen for microcephaly. Please note that serial ultrasounds are recommended even if Zika testing is negative.
  4. Partners who have traveled to a Zika area should abstain from sexual activity or use condoms for the duration of the pregnancy.
  5. Women considering pregnancy in the near future should postpone getting pregnant for at least 12 weeks after travel to a Zika area.

Gynecology Care

We recommend that most women have annual gynecology visits starting at either age 18 or when you are first sexually active.

Obstetrics Care

We recommend that you schedule your first obstetric visit when you are 7 to 8 weeks from the first day of your last period.

New Patients

Print and bring in your completed New Patient Information Forms or fax them to our office. This step will save you time on your initial visit!
